Father Dennis Higgins told a group of seven-year-olds that Santa ‘doesn’t’ exist.

The comments caused controversy when they came to light on Wednesday.

The Buxton Advertiser is running a poll over whether Father Higgins was right to say this to young children.

As of 2.30pm on Friday the poll was virtually neck and neck.

Of the 589 people who have voted so far, 296 agree with Father Higgins, as opposed to 293 who think he was wrong.
