Parking on grassy site

a GRASSY space in Duffield could be turned into car parking for retired people.

The tenants of St Alkmund’s Close have appealed to Amber Valley Borough Council for more room and want to create eight more spaces, including two disabled parking bays. At the moment parking is only available for numbers one to eight, while bungalows nine to 20 do not have immediate parking.

They say the problem is compounded by parents taking their children to and from school and have raised concerns about the restricted accessibility of emergency vehicles. An existing footpath would be retained, the grass would be surfaced with porous asphalt and a tree would be removed.

A decision will be made on March 19.
