Patients’ petition

Fears over the privatisation of the NHS have prompted concerned patients to raise a petition.

More than 40 people from Wirksworth, Belper and surrounding villages, met in The Hope and Anchor, Wirksworth, to express their concerns over the changes taking place in the NHS as a result of recent legislation.

Spokesman for the group, Chris Thompson, said: “The aim of the petition is to place a form of words in the constitution of the Clinical Commissioning Groups, which would hold those groups to account if privatisation takes place and to encourage the use of NHS providers.”

The petition will be presented to the South Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group at their meeting on February 22, 2013.
