PCSO teaches kids about safety

An officer from Hathersage Safer Neighbourhood Team headed back to class to chat to pupils around issues of staying safe, road safety and stranger danger.

PCSO Anthony Boswell took on the role as a guest speaker at Eyam Primary School.

PCSO Boswell spoke to the 20 children from reception and class one, aged between four and six–years–old, about the role of the police and how they work to keep the communities safe.

He said: “School visits are a fantastic way for us to engage with the children from an early age and educate them about staying safe and the rights and wrongs.

“It is really important that the kids get to know their Safer Neighbourhood team and the role that we play in the community.

“The children seemed to really enjoy the morning and we had lots of input from them about crossing the road safely and the importance of staying close to parents when out and about.”
