Peak District climbers rescued after fall

Scores of people came to the rescue when two climbers were badly injured in the Peak District.

Edale and Glossop mountain rescue teams were called to the incident at Martello Buttress, Stanage Edge, on Saturday.

A 25–year–old female had fallen, pulling her climbing companion, a 53–year–old man, with her in the process.

The young woman suffered a fractured pelvis and multiple facial fractures. The second climber, her uncle, sustained a head injury and a fracture in his lower back.

They were taken to hospital for treatment by air ambulance.
