Peak District residents reminded to stay safe in the bleak weather

The fire service is reminding people in the Peak District to stay safe in the snow.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service is keen to stress that it is carrying out business as usual during the freak weather, however people living in areas where there is severe road congestion may experience a slower fire and rescue service response than normal.

Anyone using candles is asked to make sure they are secured in a proper holder and away from materials that may catch fire, such as curtains.

Residents are also asked to ensure that all candles are out completely when they leave the room or go to bed.

The fire services is reminding people that it is essential that vulnerable people within the community are looked after and is urging people to check on any elderly or vulnerable relatives and neighbours during this period of bad weather.
