Peak District walker rescued after fall

Twelve members of the Buxton Mountain Rescue Team responded to a call for assistance in the Goyt Valley on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident was to assist the East Midlands Ambulance Service with an injured female walker. The initial information suggested the casualty was in Shooters Clough, however she was located at Errwood Hall. The woman was part of a walking group from Oxfordshire on a Holiday Fellowship trip to the Peak District.

The 67-year-old woman had slipped and suffered a suspected fracture of her ankle, she was treated on site by an ambulance service paramedic. Once packaged she was placed onto a mountain rescue stretcher and carried down to the road side where a land ambulance was waiting to transfer her to Macclesfield General Hospital for further treatment.
