Peak wind turbine refused
An application for a 34–metre high wind turbine has been turned down.
The Peak District National Park Authority refused the application for proposed turbine on a dairy farm at Aldwark, near Matlock, to ‘protect the landscape and nationally important archaeology’. The application was for land close to Minning Low Hill, which dates back around 5,000 years.
Councillor Paul Ancell, chairman of the planning committee said: ”A wind turbine on the skyline would be seen for miles over a wider area and have a significant detrimental impact on the scenic beauty of the limestone plateau landscape. Secondly, the prominent siting, size and scale of the development would greatly detract from people’s enjoyment and appreciation of the setting.”
