A PENSIONER avoided having her house burgled after disturbing the crook as he went through her belongings.
The 84-year-old had been sunbathing in her garden on the afternoon of Sunday August 12, in Pilsley, but briefly went back inside.
Upon entering, she heard unfamiliar noises upstairs and shouted ‘who’s there?’.
Following this, a youth ran down the stairs, past the woman and down to the Devonshire Arms pub in the village.
A burgundy Ford Fiesta then sped away from the car park in the direction of Baslow.
The burglar is described as being in his early twenties, of medium build and was wearing a light coloured baseball cap, a grey polo shirt and light knee length shorts.
The woman was fine after the incident and nothing was stolen.
