They have so far raised around £10,000 but hope to bring in another one or two grand.

Taylor Spencer, one of the fundraisers, said Saturday’s walk – which took place across some well-known and difficult routes in the Peak District – was ‘great fun’.

“We wanted to help these two fantastic charities as a few of the lads have had loved ones taken care of by the hospice and some of us have lost family members in unexpected circumstances,” the 27-year-old said.

“We walked to raise money for the charities that have helped us and hopefully help other families in their time of need and to remember those who are gone but not forgotten.”

The friends thanked everyone for their support.
