The popular open-air swimming pool on Oddfellows Road, in Hathersage, launched with ‘soft opening' on March 29 after months of being shuttered.

It comes as the stay-at-home order ends allowing groups of up to six to socialise in parks and gardens, and outdoor activities to resume once more.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he hopes the easing will "kick-start a Great British summer of sport" as sports stars teamed up with the Government to encourage a return to physical activity.

At Hathersage Swimming Pool, the full timetable will commence from Thursday, April 1.

Capacity has been ‘more than halved’ to allow for a Covid safe operation – and demand is expected to be at an ‘all-time high’ as schools break up for Easter.

In a Facebook post, Hathersage Swimming Pool said: "Demand will be incredibly high for for the first 2-3 weeks as our opening coincides with school holidays and indoor pools remain closed until 12th April.

"Our capacity is reduced by more than half for Covid safe operation so please bear with us whilst booking.”

Memberships for swimming in April have sold out according to operators of the pool, who said that no further passes will be available for the month.

Tickets will be released weekly to reduce the need for cancellations and give everyone a “fair chance of booking sessions.”
