Repairs could cost the club up to £200 – and come at a time when many sports groups are already struggling financially because of the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic.

Alfie Fairest, of Bakewell Town FC, said: “It’s a crying shame to see this happen.

“We’re a good club and here for the boys and girls of Bakewell so this vandalism is really disappointing.

“We will get it repaired in the next few weeks but this could cost anything between £50 and £200.

“Times are tough at the moment and there are definitely better things we could be spending that money on.
