Person hit by train between Chesterfield and Derby

Trains are currently disrupted between Derby and Chesterfield after a person was hit by a train.

The incident took place at Duffield shortly before 1pm today (Monday, May 30).

An East Midlands Trains spokeswoman, said: “There has been a person hit by a train at Duffield. This is between Derby and Chesterfield and is disrupting our trains on the Matlock/Derby/Nottingham and London St Pancras/Nottingham/Sheffield routes. 
“British Transport Police and Network Rail are going to investigate the problem. The line is currently closed.”

Ticket acceptance is in place with Cross Country for customers travelling between Sheffield and Derby.

Rail replacement buses are being arranged to ensure passengers are kept on the move. Service set to recover at around 5pm.
