Phenomenal five-leaf find for lucky Lucy

To find a four-leaf clover is quite rare, but luck and vast riches could be smiling on a young Chesterfield girl after she found not one, but two five-leaf clovers.

Lucy Stansfield had been walking along Walton Back Lane with her father when she came across a patch of the clovers and decided to investigate.

Within the space of just a matter of minutes, the nine-year-old Walton Holymoorside Primary pupil had picked the ultra-rare plants, along with a four-leaf clover, for good measure.

Lucy’s father, Richard said: “Lucy was so excited. We live on nearby Somersall Road and go walking there quite regularly.

“We just happened to be walking through the fields and came across a bank of clovers.

“We started searching hopefully for a four-leaf cover but in the space of five minutes Lucy had found two five-leaf clovers.

“Lucy wanted everyone to know, and couldn’t wait to get home to tell her mum and big sister

“We’ve found four-leaves before but not these. I didn’t even know they existed.”

Superstition suggests that four-leaf clovers will bring you good luck, but a five-leafed flower will bring wealth.

Experts say to find a five-leaf phenomenon is a one in 20,000 occurrence.

Richard added: “We’ve got them in a little bit of water at the moment, but we’ll hopefully get them framed and keep them.

“They are supposed to be quite unique and bring luck and wealth, but we’re still waiting!”
