Plans for 90 Matlock homes gets approval

Members of Derbyshire Dales District Council gave the green-light this week for 26 homes at Moorcroft and 64 homes at Bentley Bridge.

Both applications were recommended for approval by planning officers on the condition that on-site and off-site affordable housing provision was provided.

Now, subject to a legal agreement being “tied-up” between the council and developers, the homes will be built.

A report into the Moorcroft application states: “The open market dwelling houses would be detached, two storey units. They would each incorporate a double garage or garage space with additional car parking space. The affordable dwelling houses are proposed to have a terraced form. Six of the dwelling units are proposed to be affordable dwellings provided by a registered social landlord.”

The six homes would make up 24 per cent of the developer’s required affordable homes provision – with the remaining 21 per cent coming from a financial contribution.

A report into the Bentley Bridge application states that: “The development would be set in two distinctive areas. Affordable housing, in the form of flats and terraces and semi-detached dwelling houses...”

“Detached, private dwellings would then be provided beyond the affordable dwellings, with the larger dwelling houses set on the upper slope and up to the field separating the development from the woodland.”
