Matlock railway station is officially in bloom after the installation of six new planters.
The Friends of Matlock Railway Station carried out the work in time for the first visit of the steam-hauled railway excursion train to the station.
County Councillor Steve Flitter made an allocation towards the project from the Members Community Leadership Scheme that enabled two planters to be purchased.
Amberol Ltd, of Alfreton, then donated two spare planters.
This provided ‘match-funding’ which unlocked a grant from National Community Rail Fund that enabled a further two planters to be procured.
The Friends are still appealing to businesses to fund four more planters and benches.
