John Hamilton, who has 40 years experience of the trade, has been selected to manage the new branch of the James Hargreaves Plumbing Depot chain.

The firm threw open the doors on its £250,000 outlet on Brookfield Industrial Estate, in Old Coach Road, Tansley last week.

The premises is the 38th branch in the company’s expanding portfolio. The firm supplies plumbing, heating and bathroom solutions to trade and retail customers.

John, 57, started as an apprentice in the 1970s, working his way up to management before later running a plumbing and heating installation business in Chesterfield with his brother Paul.

He said: “I think I have seen the job from all sides over the years and I intend to put my experience to good use in this exciting new challenge.

“We always wanted to live in Matlock and moved here a few years ago. We love the place, so to land a management role, in an industry I know well just ten minutes from home, is perfect.

“I am well aware of James Hargreaves Plumbing Depot through reputation and I believe we could have a cracking branch here – at least I hope so because I suggested the premises. We had plumbers popping in to see us even before we opened which was obviously a promising sign, and the early days of trading have been very positive.”

Bill Davies, sales director at James Hargreaves Plumbing Depot, said: “We always look for managers with local knowledge when we are considering any new branches. John is the perfect fit, both in terms of being well–known within the Derbyshire plumbing community and also his vast experience.

“Our latest venture looks to be in very safe hands.”
