Police called after stones hurled off cliffside near Matlock Bath walking trail
Police were called to reports that stones were being hurled from a cliffside next to a popular Matlock Bath tourist trail.
Officers from the Matlock Safer Neighbourhood Team responded to calls from Lovers Walk on Friday, May 7.
Fortunately no-one was injured by the projectiles.
A spokesman for police said: “Why do this we wonder?! We have no idea... other then the fact it is dangerous.”
Lovers' Walks are a series of paths on the River Derwent and over the cliffs and are believed to be the oldest surviving public pleasure grounds.
In 2015 a section of Lovers' Walks was fenced off following a report prompted by a rock fall.
Experts found blocks of limestone ranging in size from 1cm to 2m wide were loose in the cliff.
