Police crackdown on drugs in Fairfield

Police in Fairfield are set to tackle drugs and associated crimes after setting the issue as their latest priority profile.

PC Andrew Weston, PCSO Patrick Haley and PCSO Sophie Rost from the Fairfield Safer Neighbourhood Team will be combating the issue after residents shared their views at a priority meeting on Tuesday, May 19.

In order to tackle the issue, the team will be carrying out high visibility patrols to identify problem locations and those individuals involved in suspected drugs activity.

Positive enforcement action will then be taken against anyone involved in illegal substances, with stop searches and warrants being carried out where appropriate.

Alongside this, the Safer Neighbourhood team will be engaging with local residents about the issue to help raise awareness around the effects of drugs misuse and the impact that this may have on the local community.

Residents are invited to attend the next neighbourhood priority meeting which is set to take place from 2pm on Tuesday, August 18. The meeting will be held at the Fairfield Community Centre on Victoria Park Road.
