Police name dead man found in Chesterfield

Police have identified a man who was found dead in Chesterfield.

The body was discovered by a member of the public about 9.30am, on Friday, June 6, on a path near Honeysuckle Road and Gorse Valley Road, Hasland, and Derbyshire Constabulary was called out.

Police named the deceased man today, Monday, June 9, as Alan Carlile, 27, of Calow Lane, Hasland, Chesterfield.

Worried residents told of their shock as police launched an investigation.

Police temporarily closed off the area during the investigation and it was re-opened to the public about 12.40pm, on June 6.

Hannah Strelley, 34, who lives on Honeysuckle Road, said that there were ‘loads of police’ at the scene in the morning.

Her husband, David Strelley, 44, said: “We have only lived here 16 months so I had never even been down the path before.

“It was scary at first because we thought it could be suspicious. We didn’t know whether there were suspicious circumstances involved or not.”

Police have been preparing a file for the coroner for an inquest into the death.

A police spokesman said the death is not believed to have involved suspicious circumstances.
