Police officers investigate train death

The collision happened on the rail line at Shirebrook station, off Station Road, about 11pm, on Tuesday, April 22.

Derbyshire Constabulary stated the deceased man was believed to have been aged in his 40s.

A police spokesman said: “Sadly, there has been a fatality on the rail tracks at Shirebrook train station involving a man who was believed to have been aged in his 40s.

“The incident involved a collision with an on-coming train.

“The British Transport Police have been alerted and are handling the matter.”

Derbyshire Constabulary explained the British Transport Police will be investigating the circumstances around the death.
