“Unfortunately, the water pipes in Edale are now a bit old and have started to leak, which could lead to interruptions in the water supply.

“To help stop this from happening in the future, we’re investing £340,000 to install around three kilometres of new water pipes in the area.

“We know that this work could cause some disruption for the local community, and we’ve been working hard to find the best way of doing the work with the minimum impact.”

He added: “Our contract partner, Amey is going to start the first part of the work on October 6, on private land, and this will be complete by the end of the month.”

The second stage of the work will start on November 3 and last until February next year, depending on the weather over winter.

Dave continued: “We’ll be starting at Edale railway station and working up to the Nags Head pub.

“To keep both the local community and our workforce safe, we’ll need to close the road to traffic during the working day, 9am till 5pm, Monday to Friday.

“We know this is likely to cause issues and we’re working closely with local businesses and the local community to try to minimise any impact.

“We know that closing roads anywhere will cause disruption, but especially in Edale and we’d like to apologise to anyone who will be affected by this work and to ask for their patience.

“We won’t be there for long, but this work will help us to keep the water running for our customers for years to come.”
