Public urged to ask questions at police meeting

Members of the public are being encouraged to see for themselves a police scrutiny meeting in action – and ask questions of Derbyshire’s top two policing leaders.

On Monday, May 13 Police and Crime Commissioner Alan Charles and Chief Constable Mick Creedon will hold their Strategic Governance Board (SGB) meeting at Police Headquarters at Butterley Hall, Ripley. They are both keen for residents to attend the meeting and put any questions to them during the half hour allotted for Question Time at 2pm.

There is no need to give notice of questions beforehand but anyone wanting to take part must be present by 2pm. Due to time restraints, latecomers will not normally be allowed to put their questions forward.

Items on the agenda include Police performance, a review of hate crime and independent custody visiting.

Different venues are used for the SGB meetings during the year in response to the Commissioner’s aim to increase accessibility to more people across the county. The next meeting will be held in Buxton on 24 June.
