Youngsters have been learning a valuable lesson in ‘waste not want not’ as part of a green scheme.
Lea Primary School, in Church Street, has been among the 64 Derbyshire schools taking part in Waste Week.
The initiative teaches pupils about the waste associated with the food they eat at school.
The children took part in ‘Lunchtime Crunchtime’ activities to discover how they can cut down on the amount of food packaging they waste at lunchtime.
Waste Week was launched by Paralympic gold medalists Liz Johnson and Tom Aggar.
The week was organised by the Pod, EDF Energy’s programme for greener schools, and runs until Sunday.
