There was fancy dress galore when St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School was overrun by pirates and superheroes last week as infant children marked the end of their topics.
The Jolly Roger was flying high as reception pupils donned their best pirate outfits and wielded cutlasses for a day of fun and activities.
And they all took part in a treasure hunt around school grounds to help visiting pirate Black Eyed Bob find his missing pieces of eight.
On the same day, Year 1 pupils took part in a superheroes day, which saw youngsters dress as Spiderman and Superman among others.
The mini-superheroes designed books and did workshops on their favourite characters.
Year 1 teacher Karen McClusky said: “We did a topic on superheroes, so we had a dress-like-a-superhero day in Year 1.
“Reception children had done a special pirates topic, so they were dressed up as pirates.
“They all thoroughly enjoyed the day and we all had a full day of fun activites. Everyone had a great time.”
