Station volunteers along the line have been assisting East Midlands Trains and the Derwent Valley Line Community Rail Partnership to install and create wonderful floral displays in the 46 new plant containers.

Neil Micklethwaite, customer service director for East Midlands Trains, said: “The stations really do look stunning and we are extremely grateful to all of the hard work put in by the team of volunteers and our own staff. During the summer holidays, we see an increased number of passengers travelling on this route to make the most of the attractions on offer and it’s great that they will see our stations in the very best light.”

The new planting containers are the latest improvements to local stations which have seen Belper, Matlock Bath and Matlock all reach the final of various categories at East Midlands Trains Best Station Awards, the results of which will be announced in September.

Friends of Matlock Station have also just received a special Award for Excellence from Matlock in Bloom for the Attractive Station Environment.
