A CHARITY craft and food fair has managed to raise an outstanding £410 for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
Despite the bad weather, visitors turned up to the event in the New Bath Hotel, Matlock, in their hordes to sample the delicious sweets, cakes and savoury snacks offered by the stall holders as well as enjoying the many craft stalls selling cards, gifts, toys and much more.
Christine Selden, Community Fundraiser for the Royal British Legion in Derbyshire, said: “I am delighted that Liz, Vanessa and Janine organised the event for the Poppy Appeal.
“As well as raising a fantastic amount for the appeal, it has helped make people aware that they can fundraise for the Poppy Appeal all year round and not just during the period of remembrance.”
The demands of the welfare services offered by The Royal British Legion are increasing and the charity is currently spending around £1.4m per week helping serving and ex-service men and women.
As this is all funded by the Poppy Appeal - the donations of the charity’s supporters are greatly appreciated.
