The reopening of the teaching pool at Arc Leisure in Matlock has been delayed, as investigations continue into a problem that has forced its temporary closure.

Derbyshire Dales District Council announced the closure of the pool last month due to an issue with the tiles, and further investigations have shown the situation to have worsened since the initial inspection.

This means the pool will remain closed now until at least April 17.

A council spokesperson said: “We sympathise with the many regular users and those who have had their swimming lessons moved or cancelled and we want to re-assure them that we are doing all we can to get the pool open again as soon as possible.

“We have moved all stage 2 swimming lessons and are in the process of rearranging the toddler lessons to the main pool.

People with lessons that can’t be moved will be offered a full refund.

“Our staff are continuing to communicate with users and we ask people to bear with us whilst we resolve the issue.”

The main pool remains open as normal.
