The University of Derby has released a report showing how universities and employers are working together to create a new generation of highly skilled workers.

Forging Futures, published by Universities UK and the UK Commission for Employment and Skills, looks at how employers and universities are working together to build pathways to the highly skilled jobs crucial to the UK’s economic future.

The report showcases the Higher Apprenticeship in Mineral Products Technology for combining practical skills with qualifications. It has been designed with industries including Hanson UK and the Mineral Products Qualification Council. A University spokesman said Hanson has encouraged others to get involved.
