A former Highfields School pupil helped save a fisherman in the middle of the English Channel.
Royal Navy sailor Felicity ‘Flick’ Liggins, 26, went to the aid of the unwell skipper – a man in his 50s – before a coastguard rescue helicopter airlifted the man to hospital.
Flick, formerly of Matlock, who is a leading chef on board
HMS Mersey, responded to a distress call.
She said: “I was very happy when I heard that the casualty had reached hospital safely and that my actions had aided his recovery.
“I was happy to be able to put to good use the skills that the Navy has given me. It was a fantastic feeling to know that we had made a difference.”
