Robber jailed after '˜armed' raid at Chesterfield bookies

A robber who said he had a weapon and demanded cash from a Chesterfield bookmaker has been jailed for three years.

Edward Warren, of Birchward Crescent, Chesterfield, had denied robbing Coral, in Derby Road, Chesterfield, in December but was found guilty following a trial.

The 41-year-old was sentenced to three years in prison at Derby Crown Court on Thursday, April 21.

Warren went in the bookmaker and handed a note to the woman working behind the till, claiming he had a weapon and demanding money.

She gave him some cash and he left.

Warren was identified from CCTV footage and arrested.
