Rogue traders were targeted when Ilkeston police officers took part in an operation to crackdown on doorstep crime.

Officers from across the county joined forces with Derbyshire County Council and Derby City Council’s Trading Standards teams and the Environment Agency in a day of action to try and identify any rogue traders that might be working in the area.

Teams dedicated a day to attending incidents of any suspicious activity, speaking to anyone going door-to-door and stopping vehicles.

PC Chris Bond, from the intelligence unit at Derbyshire police, coordinated the local action day.

He said: “By carrying out this operation our aim was to target possible rogue traders and gather information from the community, while reminding those who try to con the most vulnerable in society that we are committed to targeting these despicable offences.

“Our work will continue over the coming months and future operations will be taking place.”
