Rotarians help life–saving Dales charity

Rotarians have given a helping hand to a charity which provides emergency supplies by counties affected by natural disasters and areas of conflict.

Paul Fryer and Albert Ripamonti, of Matlock Rotary Club, presented Wirksworth–based charity Aquabox with a cheque for £500.

Chairman of trustees for Aquabox, Mike Tomlinson, thanked the club for their continued support over the years and said that in the last twelve months more than 4,500 boxes had been sent to areas of conflict and natural disasters throughout the world.

Almost 3,000 boxes have been sent to countries sheltering refugees from the conflict in Syria. The remaining boxes have been dispatched to other countries where clean water is desperately needed.

During the visit, Paul Fryer tried his hand at assembling the water purification pump.

The rotary club will be at Matlock Victorian Christmas Market this weekend selling mulled wine.
