The pilot felt it was unsafe to continue and landed in Rowsley, about 3pm, on Friday, February 8, where repairs were carried out.

Police said the bird shattered one of the windscreens and the helicopter was forced to make an unscheduled landing. None of the five crew was injured during the incident.

RAF Chinooks can often be seen during flights above Chatsworth House, Rowsley and Baslow.
