Plans to allow a traveller site in Rowsley have moved one step closer after proposals to release land at Old Station Close were passed.
At Thursday night’s Environment Committee meeting, members of Derbyshire Dales District Council voted in favour of making the land available to a family of travellers.
Planning permission will now be sought for the site which will allow the family - who are currently parked at the Agricultural Business Centre in Bakewell - to remain in Rowsley for a period of up to nine months.
This news came as a huge blow to residents and traders in Rowsley who have strongly objected the proposals from the beginning.
A meeting will take place on December 13 to consider other, more permanent, sites.
