Russian cottage

CHATSWORTH has announced a Russian Cottage as the newest addition to their group of 19 holiday cottages on the estate.

The cottage is situated in a ‘secluded location’ near Carlton Lees and overlooks farmland. It is accessed along a private track through bluebell woods – but is still only a 25 minute walk through the park to Chatsworth.

Russian Cottage was originally a gift to the 6th Duke of Devonshire in 1855 by Tsar Nicholas of Russia.

The Tsar had planned to visit Chatsworth in the 1840’s. However, the visit never came to fruition and instead he sent Russian Cottage with its intricate carvings and window surrounds as a reminder and keepsake.
