A schoolboy showed his caring side by collecting food for Ashbourne Animal Welfare.
Highfields pupil Sam Hassett, 13, helped collect dozens of tins of dog and cat food for the animal charity.
The Year 8 student put posters around the school to encourage his fellow students to get involved.
Teaching assistant Maureen Roberts said: “Sam has a rescue dog of his own called Boris and was keen to help the rescue centre. He put in a lot of time and effort.
“We went to deliver the fantastic amount of food he collected with the head of Year 8, Miss Hughes.”
