SANTA PAWS: Derbyshire’s festive pets slideshow

Christmassy canines and festive felines have been getting in to the party spirit by donning their seasonal outfits.

Christmas jumpers are all the rage for men and women this festive season – but it’s not just humans that want to pull on a festive woolly and look stylish over winter.

Our furry friends have their very own festive wardrobe and dozens of Derbyshire Times readers have been sending in photographs of their pets.

While some pets are proudly showing off their festive clothing others are less enthusiastic about their owner’s idea of a Christmas present.

Chesterfield RSPCA has also got in on the fun and dressed up Sasha, a two-year-old, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, who is looking for a home.

The charity is currently raising funds to revamp the Spital Lane site.

Animal care manager Gary Taylor said: “Thanks to everyone who has supported the appeal so far to help rebuild the Chesterfield Animal Centre.

“Since the appeal launched this summer we have already raised a whopping £34,323.89!

“This money has allowed us to start work on our new rabbit house but we still need your support so we can continue to progress.

“We would love to reach at least £35,000 by the end of the year and we’re really close so if you can help us towards this, please visit www.chesterfieldanimalcentrerebuild.org.uk to make a donation or to find out other ways you can get involved. “Thanks again and have a wonderful Christmas.”

Sasha, who has donned a pair of antlers, to get in to the festive spirit is a pretty little pooch with a distinctive white stripe down the middle of her face - and she is looking for a new home.

Gary said: “She also picks things up very quickly and is a real pleasure to be around.

“Whoever adopts this dainty lady would need to have oodles of love to give, be willing to give her lots of kisses and cuddles and they will be quickly rewarded by the company and loyalty of this gorgeous girl.”

Sasha would be suitable for a household with children aged over ten years and no other pets.
