Pupils from Highfields School have cemented a good relationship with youngsters from the Continent as part of a project on European politics.

Members of Highfields School Student Parliament took part in a European Union project, called Comenius, aimed at promoting European unity.

Teenagers from schools in Italy, Holland and Estonia visited Matlock to discuss the role of student parliaments.

They enjoyed visiting local sights and the highlight was spending a day in the main chamber at County Hall, in Matlock, and discussing what it means to be European, as well as whether or not the EU experiment has failed.
