Schools share £3.1m funding

Three schools in the High Peak and Hope Valley are being modernised thanks to £3.1 million funding from Derbyshire County Council.

Work includes classroom extensions, replacing windows and rewiring. St Andrew’s Junior School in Hadfield will receive £123,797 for a kitchen conversion with servery, Hope Valley Post 16 Centre will receive £615,556 for provision for post-16 pupils with special educational needs and disabilities and Peak Dale Primary School will get £149,961 for replacement windows.

Cllr Jim Coyle, the authority’s Deputy Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “Although we don’t have the money to do everything we’d like, this funding will go some way to providing bright, modern surroundings our children need to learn.”
