Shed alarms up for grabs at leisure centres across the Derbyshire Dales

Homeowners in the Derbyshire Dales are being encouraged to boost their outbuilding security by buying a shed alarm.

Over recent months, police have received reports of sheds, garages and outbuildings being broken into, with valuable items such as quad bikes, mountain bikes and power tools being stolen by thieves.

Following the thefts, officers wanted to make it easier for residents to pick up security devices and have since teamed up with local businesses to stock shed alarms.

The alarms can be purchased for £5 at all Derbyshire Dales District Council Leisure Centres, Hathersage Post Office, Bradwell Post Office and Wirksworth Town Hall.

The team will also be heading out on the beat to chat with residents about the steps that they can take to boost their shed, garage and outbuilding security.
