Kind hearted sales assistants in Matlock have helped raise a whopping £850,000 for Cancer Research UK.
Staff at the M&Co clothing store, located on Firs Parade, have been involved in various fundraising activities and have donated an impressive £1,300 towards M&Co’s national campaign. Claire Rowney, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Cancer Research UK, said: “We’re really grateful for the generosity and hard work of M&Co’s staff and customers. The £850,000 raised will help pay for world-class scientists, doctors and nurses.”
To raise the cash employees have been skydiving, run in the Cancer Research UK Race for Life, set up in-store fashion shows and headed on sponsored walks.
M&Co stores across the country also became donation stations for the charity. This saw customers donating their quality unwanted clothes in-store and receiving a £5 voucher in return to spend in any M&Co branch across the country.
Andy McGeoch, spokesman for M&Co said: “It is fantastic that everyone has worked together to raise so much money for Cancer Research UK. We have given ourselves the aim of raising £1m before July 2012.”
