Local businesses now have until the end of January to sign up to Trusted Trader for free after Derbyshire County Council extended the deadline on its membership offer.
Usually there’s a fee of up to £54 for joining, but that has been waived until 31 January.
The free offer was due to finish at the end of last year but the county council extended it for a further month to support reputable local businesses.
Trusted Trader helps boost local businesses by promoting them to potential customers
With more than 1,100 businesses on the list, Trusted Trader is now the biggest scheme of its kind in the country run by a council.
There is everyone from builders, plumbers, roofers and glazers, to electricians, decorators, joiners and gardeners.
Councillor Kevin Parkinson, Derbyshire County Council’s cabinet member for regeneration, said: “We didn’t want any businesses to miss out which is why we’ve extended the offer for a further month.”
Businesses who apply to become members with the special offer still have to go through the same rigorous checks.
Records of county court judgements or any previous complaints against a company are among the checks carried out before a business can join.
Traders have to be based in Derbyshire, or do half their work in the county, to make the list.
Those already signed up to Trusted Trader will get an extra six months added to their membership for free as part of the offer.
They don’t need to do anything, the six months will simply be added on.
