MUSICIANS were on-song to help boost funds for a young boy who hoping to take his first unaided steps.
The singalong at The Temple Hotel in Matlock Bath on Friday evening was well attended with more than £550 being raised on the night for Joel Rogers.
The eight-year-old from Darley Dale has cerebral palsy and underwent ground-breaking surgery in December which is hoped could help him walk for the first time without a frame.
The evening saw pianist Gerry Kreibich, guitarist John Gill take to the stage with John’s 89-year-old father Jack Gill.
Gerry, who organised the fundraiser after reading about Joel’s plight in the Mercury, said: “The singalong was a great success, especially as young Joel was there with his mum, his brother, his grandparents and his auntie who all joined in the fun.
“Joel even sang Yellow Submarine, which was brilliant!”
As well as the music, an auction was held with prizes including food hampers and gardening services donated by a local firm.
