A COUPLE that met on the back row at Sunday school are marking 60 years of happy marriage.
Diamond celebrations are taking place for Claire and Donald Lambley, of Matlock, as the pair mark their wedding anniversary today.
Donald, 81, a former police inspector and Claire, 78, who worked as the county secretary for St John Ambulance, have four children, 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, with another due in August.
To mark the special day the couple, who live on Hackney Road and have lived in Matlock since 1968, are having a family celebration on Saturday at Chatsworth.
They will also be having a party with neighbours tonight.
Claire said: “We met on the back row at Sunday school at Long Eaton Methodist Church. I was marking the attendance book and Donald came in and chatted me up.”
She said the secret to their long and happy marriage was “give and take.”
She added: “We’ve stuck together and done alright.”
