SNOW AND ICE ALERT: Drivers urged to take extra care during morning rush-hour

Drivers are being urged to take extra care on Derbyshire’s roads during the morning rush-hour – amid warnings of snow and ice.

Overnight, temperatures dropped to freezing in many parts of the county and snow has fallen in the Peak District.

Yellow ‘be aware’ weather warnings for snow and ice which were issued by the Met Office on Saturday remain in force in Derbyshire until noon today.

A Met Office spokesman said there could be travel disruption this morning and urged the public to take extra care.

Emergency services also urged drivers to be extra vigilant.
