The South to play Chesterfield’s Winding Wheel

When great British pop institution, The Beautiful South split in 2006, several members of the band weren’t ready to let it go.

So two years later, singers

Dave Hemingway and Alison Wheeler, alongside lifelong members Damon Butcher (keys), Gaz Birtles (sax) and Tony Robinson (trumpet), came out of retirement and formed the nine-piece band, The South.

The band is currently on tour performing classic songs such as the chart-topping A Little Time, Perfect 10, Rotterdam, Old Red Eyes and Don’t Marry Her.

Expect to hear these and more when The South perform at the Winding Wheel, Chesterfield, on Friday, November 7.

The group will air songs from their debut album, Sweet Refrains, which highlights their talent for pop melodies laced with twists of caustic wit.

Tickets for the concert cost £20. Contact 01246 345222 or www.chesterfieldtheatres.co.uk
