Sporting chance to take advantage of top advice

Clubs across the Derbyshire Dales are being offered a sporting chance to be a winner off the field of play in funding, coaching and use of social media.

Local sports partners – including Derbyshire Dales District Council and Derbyshire Sport – have joined forces to set up the Derbyshire Dales Clubs First Conference at Matlock Town Football Club on Monday 16 September from 6.30pm.

The conference will also focus on creating better links with local schools, disability sport and planning improvement projects.

The district council’s Sports Development Officer, Rob Wilks, said: “We’re looking forward to introducing the new Clubs First programme, which aims to inform and support the many excellent sports clubs that operate in the Derbyshire Dales.

“Funding is a massive issue for many clubs and we’ll be giving an insight into current funding opportunities and offering top tips on how to write an application.

“We appreciate also that free online promotional resources such as Facebook remain a mystery to some club organisers, so the conference will aim to show how easy it is to get the best out of social media.”

Including drinks and a buffet, the Clubs First conference will include short and informative workshops and an opportunity to meet sports development officers from Derbyshire Sport and other organisations. The cost is £15 per club, entitling three delegates to attend, and bookings must be made by 18 August at www.surveymonkey.com/s/club-conference.
