Still chance to get out the easel

There is still chance for artists to enter this year’s Derbyshire Open Art Competition.

Painters, drawers, printers, sculptors and collage artists are all being called on to take part in the competition which is open to amateur and professional artists.

Works must have a Derbyshire theme and must be handed in by 4.30pm on Saturday, June 11.

The winner will take home the top prize of £750 and have their work displayed at Buxton Museum and Art Gallery.

A number of other cash prizes are also up for grabs including the best work in oils, watercolours, best landscape, the most creative interpretation of the Derbyshire theme and best works by artists under 22 and under 17.

The Derbyshire Open Art Competition is in its 29th year and is run by Derbyshire County Council. It will be judged by an independent panel of four people who will select the winners in ten different categories.

Artists can submit up to two original works. Entry forms and a copy of the rules can be picked up at the museum.
