A NEW RSPCA store was opened in Belper by Mayor Alan Cox on Saturday.
The Derby and District RSPCA’s store on King Street will raise cash to care for and rehome animals.
Volunteer Louise Booth said: “Our animal centre on Abbey Street in Derby has been running for 140 years and running costs are now in the region of £6,000 a week.
“It’s essential that we do all we can to raise funds to keep the centre going and provide a safe haven for animals in need.
“Stores like this are an essential part of running a service from which many can benefit. This could be through adopting an animal or receiving advice on how to care for an animal.”
